In the market for a new helmet...

  1. Looking at buying a new helmet and I want one with a removable chin-guard for riding northstar/enduro. Does anyone have a Giro Switchblade or Bell Super 3R? How do you like it?
  2. I have the Switchblade. I got it because it has the removable chin guard and is downhill rated - the Bell Super 3R is not. I must say the switchblade is HOT! Some people don't seem to be bothered by that, but I'm considering giving the Fox Proframe a try. While it doesn't have a removable chin guard, I hear it is super breathable. I've also heard good things about the Leatt Enduro Helmet. It has a removable chin bar and is all downhill rated.
  3. I was definitely leaning towards the switchblade because it has the DH rating (plus the orange and purple one would totally match my bike, LOL)... however it sounds like it may be a winter-only sort of helmet and enduro and dh riding is definitely not during cold season in CA! haha I'll have to look into the Leatt helmet, never heard of it. Thanks for the feedback @kreme.brulee
  4. Hi Jenna- I wore the Fox ProFrame at Northstar all summer and liked it. I had to coach in it and had no issues with it being too hot. I do have the Bell helmet as well that I have raced the Mammoth Lakes Enduro in but like Kim said it is not DH rated. I think it depends on what you are doing. Lots of blacks and double blacks? Then the Fox ProFrame might be better.
  5. I'm going to have to look into that helmet!
  6. Sounds like the ProFrame could be a good option also since I'm definitely trying to go hard at Northstar this summer! I can have more than one helmet, right?! haha. Decisions, decisions...

Also, I looked up the Leatt... and its freaking SWEET. It definitely looks breathable and I like the fact that its DH rated and still has the option to remove the chin guard for more mild (non-bike park) riding. Link is below Jeni!

  7. I went to the Hub yesterday and tried on the Proframe in size Small, and it was too big!! I'm so bummed!! Next stop is the Leatt...

  8. SOOOO I ordered the switchblade last night... it was on sale, 50% off on last season's colors so I figured I'd give it a try. You'll be able to see me coming from a mile away, its bright orange! haha

  9. Fit has really been my biggest issue-went to all the local bike shops and tried the bell, fox and switchblade-none worked for me. The Medium Leatt fits perfect!
